I am Joanna Wood, a graphic designer from Bradford, West Yorkshire.

I have a passion for expressing creative ideas through image. With my enthusiasm for design, the craft has become a hobby and a skill rather than a task.

During school, both Art and Graphic Products became my strongest subjects and the most enjoyable. After completing A-Levels I attended Bradford College, where I spent a year on a BTEC Diploma Foundation Studies in Art and Design. This was an invaluable course which spanned a wide range of artistic areas including photography, printing, painting, and drawing.

Whilst attending College I found that I was drawn towards two main areas of design, namely graphic design and photography. I chose to concentrate on graphic design, as it involved a lot of the creative areas including illustration and photography.

I completed my degree at Huddersfield University, achieving and upper second classification in BA(Hons) Creative Imaging: Graphic Design. The course covered the whole graphic design field; both in a creative and industrial. This course has allowed me to expand on my creativity – encouraging me to explore ideas, imagery, typography and layout.

Whilst completing my degree I also attended further study at Bradford College; completing an NCFE Foundation in Calligraphy, and GCSE Photography.

After university, I worked at Dominion Screen and Digital Print as a Mac operator doing Reprographics for large format printing. Also, to increase my knowledge, I did an evening course at Bradford College learning Macromedia Dreamweaver, where I had the oportunity do develop a website for the Bradford Youth Concert Band. Now, I am at PRS (Principle Reprographic Service Ltd) as a Graphic Artist. This involves seeing the whole design process through, from the initial client consultation with the brief to sending the finished artwork to print.
